For Schools

Help your students arrive to school safely with our free events.

Safe Routes to School - Your Kids. Your School. Your Community.

By encouraging students to walk and bike to school, the Safe Routes to School (SR2S) program can benefit schools and students in numerous ways. Traffic congestion around schools during drop off and pick up times, safe alternatives to driving students to and from school, pedestrian and bike safety for students, and improving students’ overall health and well-being are addressed by and supported with various SR2S programs and events.

Schools can schedule these free educational and encouragement programs and events for K-8th grade:

  • Walking School Bus
  • WOW (Walk or Wheel) Days or Weeks
  • Bike Rodeos
  • Traffic Safety (Bike and Pedestrian) Assemblies
  • International Walk to School Day (in October)
  • National Bike to School Day (in May)
  • Helmet Fitting & Education

A week-long event to encourage students to walk or bike to school daily. One day during the week 4 to 5 volunteers placed off campus, observe and give coupons to students who are walking and riding to school safely. Students redeem the coupons for incentive items.

Interactive traffic safety assemblies teach students how to walk and ride to school safely. Students are separated by grade levels, each attending a 45 to 60 minute presentation.
